Grain-Free Food for Older Working Dogs

Our senior working dog food is grain-free and uses sweet potato and potato as alternative carbohydrate sources.

Both recipes contain 50% animal ingredients, including freshly prepared meat or fish, providing highly digestible sources of protein to help maintain muscle condition as your dog gets older.

With moderate fat levels and carefully balanced nutrition, these recipes are suitable for older working dogs whose activity levels may be beginning to change.

Supporting Healthy Joints and Mobility

Years of running, training and working can take their toll on an older dog's joints.

Our senior recipes contain a dedicated Joint Care Pack, including ingredients such as glucosamine, chondroitin sulphate and MSM, designed to help support cartilage and maintain healthy joints.

The recipes also contain Omega 3 fatty acids, with our trout and salmon recipe providing a particularly rich source of Omega 3.

Digestive Support for Senior Dogs

Digestion can become more important as dogs get older.

Our senior working dog recipes include the prebiotics MOS and FOS, which help support beneficial gut bacteria and healthy digestion.

They contain no added artificial colours or preservatives and are naturally preserved using rosemary extract.

When Should I Move My Dog onto Senior Food?

There isn't one age at which every dog suddenly becomes senior.

Breed, size, workload, body condition and general health can all affect when an older dog benefits from changing its food. A working dog that remains extremely active may have different energy requirements from a retired or less active dog of exactly the same age.

Rather than looking only at your dog's birthday, consider changes in their weight, activity, mobility and condition.

If you are unsure whether your dog should move onto senior working dog food, speak to your vet for advice based on your individual dog.

Changing to a Senior Working Dog Food

When introducing a new food, make the change gradually rather than replacing your dog's existing food overnight.

Mix increasing amounts of the new senior food with their existing food over several days. A gradual transition gives your dog's digestive system time to adjust.

Keep an eye on your dog's weight and body condition too. Older working dogs vary greatly in activity level, so feeding quantities may need adjusting according to how much exercise and work your dog is doing.
